- it was a sunny 27 degrees Celsius for the first three days I was in HK; my brother thought I brought the weather from Uganda with me because the previous two weeks had been cold and wet
- my Cantonese sounds horrible; I haven't used it in months
- I left the mosquitoes in Africa - or so I thought! My first night I was bitten twice, yet no-one else in the apartment 60m above ground level was!
- quick pace - swiftly getting on/off buses, minibuses, MTR, escalators, elevators... because no-one waits
- food service is super efficient - people eat quickly too
- Spacious! the sidewalks are wide and legroom on buses/minibuses is plenty
- in Africa I'm considered 'white'(/mzungu); in HK they call me 'black'(/星星/菲傭) LOL
- 街市非常乾淨 (rel.)
- lack of physical contact: have not offered/ been offered a hand even when being introduced
- K'la: if there's a hill in the way, lead the road over/around it. HK: dig a tunnel through it.
- streetlights
- no potholes
- A/C
- yumcha (daily!)
